Experimental comparison of DSB and CS-DSB mmW formats over a hybrid fiber and FSO fronthaul network for 5G

The telecommunication world is experiencing the 5th generation (5G) networks deployment including use of millimeter wave (mmW) frequency bands to satisfy capacity demands. This leads extensive optical communications, especially fiber connectivity at last mile access and edge networks. In this paper we outline free space optics (FSO) technologies for as part 5G fronthaul network. We investigate two different mmW transmission schemes based on ( i ) conventional analog radio over using one Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) with double sideband (DSB) modulation, ii an optical-based doubling MZM biased null point introduce carrier suppression DSB (CS DSB) second used data modulation. Both systems are assessed in terms error vector magnitude, signal-to-noise ratio, dynamic range phase noise. consider a configuration network 2 (FR2) 27 39 GHz scale bandwidth up 400 MHz M-quadrature amplitude modulation quadrature shift keying. Results also shown FR1 3.5 GHz. Moreover, first time new signal under strong turbulence conditions show turbulence-induced FSO link impairment. finally demonstrate CS scheme performs well chromatic dispersion-induced fading 40 single mode length 30 km, whereas format seems more appropriate antenna seamless transmission.
